mail from delhi

last week, i received a package from india.

it was from heather.

heather is the owner of the backpackers' hostel (the wonderful Eight Elephants) i stayed at in taipei. she is young, beautiful, smart & free-spirited. after graduating from university in taiwan, she went travelling alone for a year, before returning to taiwan to start the hostel (which has been voted top hostel in taiwan by the way!).

one night, in the hostel, she told me about her plans to go to india.

and of course she did.

* the above 2 photos are by heather

I would love to visit India again, it's such a beautiful chaotic spice-filled country! Would be interesting to see what your friend had experienced in her trip...

And also, now I really want to check out Eight Elephants when I am travelling in Taiwan! :P

gracie:

yes, do check out eight elephants, it's very cosy, very homely, and definitely awesome (although heather is travelling now and not running EE anymore)

sputnikm:
it's at the guting station, very near to the shida night market! yes, probably the most rewarding thing about travelling :)

You HAVE to go! I was in Chennai for a shoot in 2006, and had a couple of days extra to look-see and experience the streets and slums. It's quite a life-changing trip indeed, and made me appreciate everything a lot more...

BTW, for the Eight Elephants' website link, I think the main page had some problems loading. But you could access the rest of it here:

Cheers ya'll!
