Field Office (田中央设计群)

there is an architecture studio in yi lan, taiwan, that is named Field Office. they operate out of a big, old house that is smack right in the middle of a farm.

they have a strange tradition: all its employees are required to stay in the staff hostel (also in the house) for at least one and a half years before they can move out to live on their own.

for work, the designers and architects simply put on a t-shirt and a pair of shorts and slippers.

sometimes, when the weather gets unbearably hot, the employees go for a swim in a nearby canal.

this is a cross section of their office/hostel. please view it large:

it's great. even though i hate the idea of working in an office, i don't think i'd mind working at Field Office!
