kapok love

it's a pity that kapok is moving away from their lovely tin hau location.

a little back-story to kapok... Arnault, who runs kapok, is a frenchman who is currently living in Hong Kong. he also runs a distribution business, so he decided to open a shop/gallery to feature some of the lovely brands that he'd discovered along the way!

i still remember that warm, sleepy afternoon in Hong Kong when i wandered into kapok for the first time. i was alone that day and i decided to finally make a trip down to kapok, which i've heard so much about.

to get to kapok, you have to take the MTR to tin hau station. once you step out of the station, you will find yourself in a surprisingly serene and quiet enclave, which is a world away from the chaos that is causeway bay (but i still love you, causeway bay!)

kapok, with its classy glass door and chic cement flooring, is located on a sleepy stretch, right next to a garage (quite a contrast!). it stocks an excellent collection of wares from paper goods to t-shirts to candles and also sell a whole bunch of really wonderful magazines. it would be perfect if Arnault could add some chairs and tables, i'm sure i'd spend countless humid afternoons there!

anyway, kapok will be moving to wan chai soon. i hope it finds somewhere as charming as its current location!

here's to kapok!

PS: i wish i could open a store in HK too, just like Arnault ;)
